Description
beta-Naphthoyl brevetoxin is a semisynthetic analog of PbTx-3. Like the naturally occurring brevetoxins, beta-naphthoyl brevetoxin binds to site 5 of the voltage-gated sodium channel. However, instead of activating the channels, it acts as an inhibitor of both the binding of brevetoxins to the sodium channel and of the bronchoconstrictor response elicited by the brevetoxins in sheep.
